Who was Vera F. Birkenbihl?

Vera Felicitas Birkenbihl (born April 26, 1946 in Munich; † December 3, 2011 in Osterholz-Scharmbeck) was a German management trainer and non-fiction author. She was considered the only well-known woman among motivational speakers.

Vera F. Birkenbihl studied psychology and journalism in the USA. The daughter of the personal trainer and management consultant Michael Birkenbihl has been developing learning techniques based on brain research since 1969.

In 1970 she gave her first lectures and seminars in the USA and has worked as a freelance trainer and author since her return to Europe in 1972. She last lived in Osterholz-Scharmbeck.

Birkenbihl was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome. She died in Age of 65 years old from a pulmonary embolism.

In the mid-1980s, Vera F. Birkenbihl gained greater fame through a self-developed method of language learning, the Birkenbihl method.

This promised to get by without “cramming” vocabulary. The method represents a concrete case study of brain-friendly learning.

In her words, this term is a translation of the term “brain friendly” imported from the USA.

In seminars and publications, she dealt with the topics of brain-friendly learning and teaching, analytical and creative thinking, personality development, numerology, pragmatic esotericism, brain-specific gender differences and future suitability.

She made reference to esoteric topics Thorwald Dethlefsen.

Vera F. Birkenbihl founded a publishing house and, in 1973, the Institute for Brain-Friendly Work. In addition to her 2004-episode show Kopfspiele, which was produced in 22, she was an expert in the Alpha series in 1999. Perspectives for the third millennium can be seen on BR-alpha.

Until the year 2000 had Birkenbihl two million books sold.

One of their main focuses until recently was the topic of playful knowledge transfer and the corresponding learning strategies (non-learning learning strategies), which were intended to make practical work easier for both learners and teachers.
