Calming Crying Babies Video Instructions
When you have a crying baby, you may feel distressed and not know what to do.
Here are some simple steps you can follow to calm your baby.
- First, you should make sure the baby is not hungry or has a full diaper.
- If the baby is still crying, try to calm him down by taking him in your arms and stroking him gently.
- You can also try playing soft music or gently rocking the baby.
- If the baby is still crying, you can try giving him a favorite toy.
Some babies scream as loudly as a jet plane
According to new research, the loudness of babies' cries is equivalent to that of jet planes.
That's around 120 decibels. For comparison: from 85 decibels you should wear hearing protection at work. Babies also cry in their native language.
A study by the Würzburg University Hospital shows that when newborns cry, they imitate phonetic melodies that they heard before birth.
With this behavior they probably want to strengthen their bond with their mother, the scientists report in the magazine Parents.
