Beautiful panoramic images over Geneva

It is now ten years since Pertrand Piccard dreamed of a solar plane that would fly around the world, both day and night, without fuel, but only with the power of the sun - solar energy.
A round-the-world flight with a stopover on all continents is planned for 2012.

Pertrand Piccard's dream is slowly but surely becoming reality, and the Solar Impulse is now making its rounds over Geneva.

The journey around the world took a long time - 505 days, covering 42.000 km at an average speed of 70 km / h the plane.

Pilots Bertrand Piccard and Andre Borschberg successfully landed the Solar Impulse 2 aircraft in Abu Dhabi after flying around the world using only the power of sunlight as an energy source. Solar Impulse 2 is a solar-powered aircraft equipped with more than 17.000 solar cells and a wingspan of 72 m.

Technical difficulties, poor flying conditions and also a sensitive aircraft contributed to the slow speed.
