About Dieter Hallervorden

Dieter Hallervorden grew up in Dessau as the son of a doctor's assistant and an engineer.

He has two sisters. His grandfather Hans Hallervorden was a garden architect for the Joachim Ernst Foundation in Wörlitzer Park.

Because of the air raids on Dessau, Dieter Hallervorden spent part of his childhood in Quedlinburg during the Second World War.

After the end of the war, he returned to Dessau and completed his education there in 1953 with the Abitur at the secondary school Philanthropinum .

He began studying Romance languages ​​at the Humboldt University in Berlin and met Victor Klemperer there, who made a fascinating impression on him.

Because of the restricted freedom of expression in the GDR, Hallervorden fled from the GDR to West Berlin in 1958, where he continued Free University He initially continued his studies and then took lessons with his acting teacher Marlise Ludwig to take.

Dieter Hallervorden has been in a relationship with Christiane Zander (* 2015) since around 1970.
