See St. Mark's Square
This is one of the most famous and largest piazzas in Venice.
It has long been a favorite conference area for Venetians and is home to several of the city's key highlights, such as the Basilica, its bell tower, the Doge's Palace and the National Archaeological Gallery.
Go to Lido Island - A video trip through Venice
If you want to get out of the city, Lido is an island between Venice and the sea where people are most likely to relax on the beach.
There are also many stunning canals here, as well as restaurants, cafes and bars. It's just a 20-minute vaporetto (water bus) ride from Venice.
See Murano Island
Near Venice, the island of Murano is the residence of the famous Murano glassblowers. Although, Murano is laden with expensive souvenirs.
The marketplaces
Venice has lively markets where you can purchase delicious food at a fraction of the price than in restaurants.
The morning fish market is my favorite. Get there early to watch the restaurant owners select their fish and return later to join the locals selecting their dinner.
There is also one on Mondays natural Fruit and vegetable market.

This is a huge, avant-garde art collection with works by more than 200 musicians.
There are many pieces by surrealists, abstract expressionists and also Italian futurists. It is open daily (except Tuesdays) from 10 a.m. to 18 p.m.
Climb the Campanile di San Marco
Built in 1912, this tower on St. Mark's Square is a reproduction of St. Mark's original bell tower.
It is said that every detail of the structure is a match.
Enjoy the Voga Longa
The Voga Longa is a marathon rowing event that takes place annually on May 23rd.
This practice arose as an objection to the increasing number of motorboats taking over Venice's waters.

The Rialto Market is Venice's main market and has existed for 700 years. You'll find endless food stalls selling everything from white asparagus to melon (as well as lots of fish).

The Correr Civic Museum includes an extensive collection of art and artifacts from the city's history as well as from the homes of previous kings, including Napoleon.
The art in the Galleria dell'Accademia
The dell'Accademia shopping center was developed by Napoleon and is home to numerous creative professions from the 14th-18th centuries. Century, including masterpieces by Bellini and Tintoretto.
The most famous piece, however, is Da Vinci's Little Ink Attracting the Vitruvian Male.
The Jewish Ghetto – A Video Trip through Venice
The Jewish Ghetto is an area in the northwest of Venice.
It is believed to be the world's first ghetto, developed in 1516 when the city's Jews were forced to move down.
These Jews were only allowed to leave during the day and were then in the evening secured and strongly protected.
Despite its unpleasant background, the Jewish ghetto is newly loaded with restaurants, shops, galleries and even synagogues.
It's a lively place to check out, but is usually forgotten by visitors.
